#GOALS is a one day interactive educational experience for middle school students to inspire them to Go Out and Love Science!

#GOALS is a program of the Ascension Foundation and Ascension Community Impact, part of our shared initiative to build a future healthcare workforce that reflects the diversity of our country. 
Research shows that concordance is a key component to closing gaps in life expectancy and strengthening health equity, yet the proportion of black doctors in the U.S. still significantly lags the population.

Healthcare careers can be stable, financially rewarding, and professionally fulfilling but the journey is long and there are additional obstacles for students from underrepresented groups and under-resourced communities. 

#GOALS was developed with input from medical students, physicians, researchers, educators, and event production experts. We seek new input after each event and before planning a new #GOALS event ensure the activities reflect and respect the communities we seek to support through this effort. 

Through #GOALS, we want to inform and inspire students to prepare for the rigorous undergraduate education they need to pursue professional education and training for careers in healthcare and research.
